A beautiful drawing of the long wheelbase Beijing limousine.

Already nearly 1 1/2 year ago I wrote about a possible existence of long wheelbase version of the 1958 Beijing limousine.

I ended the story with: “What we need is a good and convincing picture of the 1*06228 in its long wheelbase version. Who is going to deliver that picture??

Close up of the Beijing long wheelbase limousine, painting Jörg-Peter Rabe.

Well, there is still NO picture.

But what we have now is a beautiful reconstruction painting made by our Chinese car painter Jörg-Peter Rabe.

This is what the limousine must have looked like. Painting Jörg-Peter Rabe.

Jörg-Peter worked with the following assumptions:
– a longer (long wheelbase) vehicle
– a gray color with blue accents
– three rows of seats
– a third side window
– the rear doors are so-called suicide doors, like the ones of the inspection limo and the Hongqi CA770
– registration 1*06229 (the inspection limo has 1*06227, the swb limousine 1*06228)
– Tian’anmen background, direction Forbidden city.

Open inspection limo, 1*06227.
Closed swb limousine, 1*06228.
And number three, the long wheelbase limousine, 1*06229.

Well, we are still waiting for the picture, but I think that Jörg-Peter had done a beautiful job!
