Other cars made by Jiangbei and Qinchuan.

In addition to my last item, I want to show to you other cars which were made by these two companies.

Let’s start with the Qinchuan company, designing and producing cars in the 1980s and 1990s.

In those years, Qinchuan made:
QCJ7050 1987 (SX720, SX7050)
QCJ7080 1992-2001 The Suzuki Alto (license)
QCJ7081 1995
QCJ7082 1998
QCJ7085 1995 Xiao Fuxing, China North Vehicle Research Institute, Beijing.
QCJ7088 1998 Xiao Fuxing, production model, made by Qinchuan.
QCJ7090 1995-1998 Zhonghua (Beijing) Soloman (CHS5011T, CHB7090)
QCJ7091  (?)

With the home production of the Suzuki Alto, Qinchuan had the platform and the engine in house, to design and produce her own models.

The QCJ7081 hatchback saw its light in August 1995.  It was shown at a local motor show together with a pickup version, which we show here after. The car was called Jiating, but also Beifang.

Technical info: LxWxH 3400mm x 1470mm x 1410mm, wheelbase 2145mm. Engine JC462Q, 4-cylinder, 796cc. 26kW/ 5500rpmk, 100km/h. Weight 800kg.
I guess the body was made of FRP (fibreglass reinforced plastic).

At a small autoshow in Tanghai (nowadays Caofeidian near Tangshan) in January 1995, Qinchuan showed not only the QCJ7o81 but also as a crewcab pickup version, in the style of the Zhonghua’s from Shenzhen. Qinchuan cooperated with Zhonghua.

A second car made in that period by Qinchuan with Suzuki parts is the QCJ7082, also promoted as Beifang. I doubt if there was any production as there are only two color photos of the (same) car known.

Beifang QCJ7082, 1998.

This car was driven by an original Suzuki Alto F8B engine, 796cc, 26kW. LxWxH 3600mm x 1500mm x 1450mm, wheelbase 2410mm.
Here a better (black and white) copy of the photo:

And now the Jiangbei models.

JJ720 1986-1991 (JJ7050, JJ7060, JJ7090)
JJ7080 1992-2001 The Suzuki Alto (license)
JJ7090 (JJ7100) Opel Corsa (Guangdong assembly)and more here.
JJ7091 1993
JJ7130 JMStar (Shanghai)
JJ7150 Kia Sephia GTX (Guangdong assembly)

The cars were named Jiangbei, Shenjian and Meilu.

Not much is known of the Meilu JJ7091. I must have forgotten this car in the long range of Daihatsu Charade II look-a-likes.

Meilu JJ7091, about 1993.

Technical information: LxWxH 3615mm x 1698mm x 1370mm, wheelbase 2360mm. Engine Daihatsu ED10, 847cc, 30kW.

Cars left? Not one of the home-designed models of Qinchuan and Jiangbei will be found nowadays. You have a small chance to find an Opel  Corsa or Kia Sephia at a scrapyard.

Thanks Erik. It is so good to read about forgotten Chinese cars.

JJ7091 and its clones always reminded me more of Toyota Starlet for some reason. Anyways thanks Erik, I have completly forgotten the pickup existed.
