After my post “Our draftsmen” Jörg-Peter Rabe made on my request several car paintings. Each of them are beauties! I show them here.
Rabe started, as you remember, with the Xianjin 71-5 of 1958. Here is a second drawing of the car.
Paektusan, a North Korean car made in 1979 by the Tokchon factory of Sungri. Probably only one prototype, which acted in some movies. Rabe studied the photos and the movies, to try to get his paintings as realistic as possible.
As a bonus, I didn’t ask, Rabe chose the Kaengsaeng 85 (the closed version), also from the North Korean movies.
Next was a Chinese car, the Wuqi (this means the seventh of May), I wrote more than three years ago about this factory. Very bad quality pictures from Weibo.
Wuqi sedan and Wuqi ZH70 cross country vehicle, 1970.
The last one of today is a photo made by Oliver Barnham, described here.
Rabe and I are quite certain it is hearse (funeral vehicle).
It is great when an artist likes to make paintings to help us with revealing the history of the Chinese car industry.
Many thanks, Jörg-Peter for this great contribution to our work!
Jörg-Peter offers to paint your car. He can do that with help of one or more photos. With the photos he will discuss with you the background.

They are lovely. Lots of character in them.
