GAZ M20 Pobeda made in China and North Korea.

Reading the wonderful Russian website www.autoar.org I asked if they knew anything about Russian GAZ M20 Pobeda’s made in China or in North Korea.
As you know, I have written about the Chinese Pobeda here, and about the Korean Pobeda here.

Yuejin CN-750.

It was Dmitriy Dashko who answered me. He sent me a series of seven photos: all 1958-1959 prototypes made by the Nanjing Auto Works.

Yuejin truck prototype.

They were made by a photo studio in Nanjing established in the Zhongshan Street. (tel. 42988). Most of those photos had the entrance gate of the Zhongshan Mausoleum in Nanjing as background.  (Zhongshan was dr. Sun Yat Sen, China’s first president.)

One of the photos shows the Chinese Pobeda. The differences between the Russian Pobeda and the Yuejin CN-750 are minimal according Dashko: no inscriptions on the hood or on the wheel caps.

Dashko wrote also that the ckd kits were sent ONLY to Poland. My conclusion is that we can speak of badge engineering (or rebranding), except for the details above this is just a Russian car or a single copy.

Though you can understand that I am very happy with the nice photo!

About the North Korean, till now non existing, but often mentioned Pobeda copy. I told you before about the Russians having a lot of fun by adding the Pobeda on Kim Jong-Il photos. Giving the car even a fake name: Achimkoy. Here I show you the photo-shopped photos:

The fake photo, with the so-called Achimkoy behind the group. Note the man right beside Kim: his shoes (wonderful!), his face! It is one of the Russians, also photo-shopped. They must have had a lot of fun!The original photo, the man with the note book is Korean!

The second photo. How nicely faked!

And the original.

Itis amazing that there are websites and people who now believe there was a Korean Pobeda called Achimkoy:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sungri_Motor_Plant
https://myntransportblog.com/category/achimkoy/ (this website is really full of shit!)
https://www.drive2.ru/b/1819602/
and many others!

My conclusion: there NEVER was a North Korean Pobeda. Please send me proof that I am wrong!
